With the end of June approaching, that means our nation’s birthday is growing near. For Cary residents, this means its time to start making plans for the “fun-tastic” Cary Independence Day Events taking place this year on July 3-4.

The Cary Arts Center (pictured) will host the Cary Town Band’s tribute to the veterans on Thursday, July 3.

Independence Eve Celebration at Cary Arts Center

Cary Arts Center will play host to the first of all Cary Independence Day Events on July 3. These festivities start at 6:30 p.m. with a “pre-show” performance by “Applause! Cary Youth Theatre.”

Following the youngsters, the Cary Town Band will take center stage at the celebration. They will pay tribute to our nation’s veterans at this years’ upcoming event.

Scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start, the Cary Town Band has become a tradition at the annual Cary Independence Day Events. In addition to honoring those who have served, Deborah Tilton, NC Army National Guard Specialist, will be answering, “What is a Veteran?”

The “Olde Time” Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4 is at Fred G. Bond Metro Park

Olde Time Celebration and Cary Independence Day Events at Bond Park

Starting at 8:00 a.m. on our nation’s day of birth, the Fred G. Bond Metro Park will be the location for an “Olde Time” celebration.

It is encouraged to bring along the whole family to the days’ Cary Independence Day Events. After the 8:00 a.m start, activities for all ages will continue into the early afternoon.

The Cary Independence Day Events at the “Olde Time Celebration” Schedule

  • 8:00-10:00 a.m.- Fishing Tournament                                                                                                                                  Registration starts at 7:30 at Bond Park Boathouse. Prizes awarded in a variety of categories and age groups.
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m.- Parade Preparations
    Bring out your bike, tricycle, wagon, scooter, or kids battery-power vehicles and get ready for an “old-fashioned” parade! This years’ parade theme is “American Pride.” Thus, let’s see some stars and stripes, and a lot of creativity using the red, white, and blue. Supplies for decorating will be provided by Cary Teen Council.
  • 10:30 a.m.- finish- Parade in the Park
    Time to show off that “American Pride!” Take a walk, stroll, or ride along in the annual Parade in the park. The starting point will be the Kiwanis Shelter. The Cary Town Band will lead the parade playing some of their patriotic-best tunes.
  • 11:00 a.m- finish- Family Contests
    Another favorite part each year of these Cary  Independence Day Events! The whole family teams up for these friendly competitions in a variety of different age groups and events. A full listing of the events/contests scheduled are below.

The Wednesday, July 3 Cary Town Band event is at the Cary Arts Center. This is located at 101 Dry Avenue in Cary. The Thursday, July 4 activities are at Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Road, also in Cary. Both locations are only a short few minutes from your new home at the Preston Retreat luxury, new home community.
